Darren Hayman

Darren Hayman was born in 1970. When he was young he loved comics and thought he wanted to draw them when he grew up. Then he changed his mind and went to Maidstone College of Art in 1989 and got a degree in illustration.

Then he changed his mind again and formed a band. Hefner became a beloved cult band support by Radio 1 DJ John Peel. Hefner made four albums between 1998 and 2002 and toured the world.

Since Hefner Darren has released over 20 solo albums on various subjects including the East Anglian Witch Trials, Astronauts, William Morris and Thankful Villages.

Darren never stopped being interested art and was designing the artwork for his records but 2015 he started painting again in earnest. He would paint small watercolour postcards and give them to friends and then move on to sell them.

During the 2021 lockdown Darren started painting night scenes as well as taking up painting in acrylic on hardboard. "I decide to make a concerted effort to become a painter of light. It was the first time I made a conscious effort to dig deeper and become a much better painter."

It is that work that inspires this website. It is a place for Darren to sell his best artwork at the best prices.
